Inspired by Frida Kahlo, mastering love of self and visualizing our identities for ourselves are our kryptonite against the colonized legacy we are force fed. The public narratives that we have at our disposal representing us are malicious falsehoods that attack our humanity. Like Kahlo, we must light the world with our self-created truths. We must construct our own value and beauty. We are the origin of our understanding of self and the editors of our stories. Her most incredible work of art was her self, which she expansively offered to the world. The vibrant strokes of her paintbrush, she vividly constructed a powerful armor of identity that honored her past, present, and future selves.
